Nearby Attractions

The Cote D'Amour area of Brittany abounds in activities and attractions - whatever you love to do, it's close by!

Golf Golf is one of the most popular activities in Brittany, and consequently there are a variety of courses nearby to suit all abilities (and budgets!). In Rennes (35 minutes), there is Golf de Cicé-Blossac, Golf de la Freslonniere and Golf de Rennes. In Dinard (30 minutes), there's the venerable and picturesque Dinard Golf. And near St. Malo (40 minutes) there's the famous Golf de St-Malo-le-Tronchet, with it's vast greens & rolling parkland.

Tennis There are several tennis courts within a 10-minute drive, all of which welcome casual players as well as more serious tennis fanatics!

Swimming The lakes around the village are perfect for a cooling dip and a picnic, but there are also outdoor pools within easy reach, and an indoor pool about half an hour away. And of course, the lovely Brittany coastline is only a short drive away - perfect for whiling away those lazy afternoons!

Walks Whether you're looking for a windswept clifftop, a stroll through ancient Breton villages, or watching the sun set over the breakers, the Cote D'Amour has some of the loveliest walking in France - and we're right in the heart of it! From your front door you can stroll to any of the three lakes surrounding the village, or follow the nature trail through the woods in Lanrelas, or just head off into the countryside! Distance: 5-35 minutes

Cycling With a bike (or even a tandem!), much of the surrounding countryside opens up to you. The Leguer and Guic valleys are waiting to be explored, sleepy villages nestle in the hills, and the rugged Brittany coastline are all within peddalling distance. If you want to rent bikes, we can help you arrange that also, from a town about 30 minutes away.

Horseriding One of the best ways to see this historic part of France is on horseback, and there are riding schools nearby offering both short & long rides through the countryside. After assessing your experience (or lack of it!) they'll select a horse that's right for you, and take you on guided treks in the local area.

Sailing, Canoeing, Windsurfing, etc. About 15 minutes away is the aptly-named Jugon les Lacs, home to the local watersports scene. Here you can rent canoes, windsurfs and sailboats, by the hour or day. (Tuition is also available.)

Beaches & Cliffs For sandy beaches & clifftop walks, the wild & beautiful Cap Frehel and Cap Erquy can't be beaten in Brittany - there are some lovely spots for sunbathing & swimming here (including some that the locals try to keep to themselves!) We'll be happy to give you directions to our favourite ones.

Pink Granite Coast Sunset is the best time to explore the headland of Arcouest and the island of Brehat and admire the expanses of sandy beaches and the rusty rock formations in splendid hues of pink which give this coast its name. Distance: 65 minutes

Mont St. Michel One of the most famous landmarks in France, this lovely walled town is set on a high granite mound. Twice a day, the incoming tide rushes around it, cutting off from the mainland apart for a narrow causeway. The winding streets, bustling cafes, and the beautiful Gothic abbey (once visited by William the Conqueror) all combine to make this a memorable day out. Distance: 80 minutes

St. Malo As well as the fabulous aquarium, the bathing resort of Saint Malo is known for its castle, the cathedral of Saint Vincent, and its 14th century ramparts which overlook the sea. Saint Malo was also the birthplace of famous French writer and statesman, Chateaubriand. Distance: 40 minutes

Dinan, Medieval City With a medieval citadel dominating this exceptional site in the Rance valley, Dinan is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Brittany.

Shopping: Markets The medieval towns of Rennes, St Brieuc, Dinan & Vannes still hold weekly markets, continuing a tradition hundreds of years old. Arts & crafts as well as fresh farm produce (you should definitely try the local cheeses & ciders) are all for sale in these cheerful bustling markets. Distance: 20-40 minutes

Shopping: Vide Greniers Every week during the summer months, the local villages hold 'vide greniers', a cross between a farmers market and an old-fashioned bootfair. These are the best places to pick up local produce (including the local cider, Calvados & eau-de-vie) as well as bargains of all sorts, from clothes to antiques, organic soaps to herbal remedies. Plus they're a fantastic place to meet the locals! Distance: 10-20 minutes

Shopping: Cider Although France is famous for it's wine, in Brittany they're also proud of their cider, still made using traditional methods at many of the farms around the gite. They're more than happy for you to drop in and taste some! In the autumn, when the apple crop is picked, it's taken to the weekly village markets and sold in huge aromatic piles, where you can watch them being pressed into cider in front of you! Distance: 10-20 minutes
